Abstract
As one of the key sectors in sustainable development, tourism plays an important role in improving the local economy, preserving the environment, and improving the quality of life of the host communities. In the framework of sustainable development, tourism can help preserve natural and cultural resources by properly managing resources, while creating economic and job opportunities. This type of tourism, especially in rural areas, has been proposed as an effective tool for sustainable development. In the study of the rural landscape, understanding the nature and inherent values of the place and the structure of the landscape, especially in specific climatic and geographical conditions, plays a vital role in the development of tourism. In this research, the purpose of which is to develop a model for the improvement of environmental quality indicators in the framework of sustainable tourism, the sample areas of western Iran tourism have been selected in order to determine the unknown and ambiguous aspects in this context. This research is of applied type and in terms of descriptive-analytical information gathering and it was done using a combined method including observation, interview, questionnaire and statistical data. The statistical population includes specialists in the field of tourism and planning, and the statistical sample includes about 10 people from the focal groups. The factors that attract tourists to villages include morphological features, lifestyle, local customs and crafts, cultural customs, natural attractions, wildlife, and historical monuments. One of the key attractions of the villages is native architecture and the harmonious combination of hard and soft landscape using local materials. For the sustainable development of rural tourism, it is necessary to strengthen these components and compile a comprehensive development document that addresses various aspects and improves the paradigm of rural tourism.
